We go hands-on with LG’s Android Wear offering!

Aside from the G3, we also managed to catch the G Watch during LG’s official G3 shindig last night. For those who don’t know, the G Watch is LG’s offering for Google’s wristbound OS, which was detailed by the search giant during their keynote in Google I/O.

The G Watch has a large, 1.65-inch IPS display with a resolution of 280 x 280. Overall it’s not really that big, though it may be a bit too much for people with skinny arms (the G Watch looked a tad large on the model who was demonstrating it during the G3 launch). It’s powered by a 1.2GHz processor, and has around 512MB of RAM with 4GB of storage.

The watch felt comfortable to wear, with its rubberized band and large face. We’re estimating it to be at least as heavy as a regular wristwatch, so it’s not a burden at all while you’re using it.

We weren’t able to test the voice recognition tech of the watch because it was simply too noisy during the launch, though we discovered that the G Watch has fitness tracking capabilities. You’ll also be able to see most of your Facebook activity as well, along with the usual notifications (call, text, etc.).

Since the device wasn’t launched yet, no price has been set currently. We’ve heard that the watch will launch soon (we’re hoping this month) and there may be a distinct possibility that LG may bundle the watch with the G3.
