HTC Desire 10 Pro Quick Review: Midrange Phone, Premium Looks

Impressive specs for its price.

HTC marks their return to the Philippines today, and while we were amazed at their flagship model U11, we also have some love for their mid-range model Desire 10 Pro. Don’t underestimate this phone either. Take a peek at what this phone has to offer:

HTC Desire 10 Pro Specs

  • Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10

  • 3000mAh battery
  • Android Marshmallow

We got our hands on a unit during HTC’s “PH Meets the Brillant U” event, and here’s a quick look.

Initial impression: A premium feel with enough oomph for the power user

What we like at the HTC Desire 10 Pro’s design is its matte finish, paired with aluminum metallic lines decorating the handset. The smartphone’s finish makes it less prone to slipping off your hand, and it is not a fingerprint magnet. No need to wipe the back after hours of usage. While it does not share the design of HTC’s U line (namely U Play, U Ultra, and U11), the Desire 10 Pro still looks modern and sophisticated. Just like HTC’s other phones, it feels sturdy, thanks to its metal body.

You have the power button and the volume rocker on the right side.

You got your 3.5mm audio jack on top.

The left side contains the SIM tray.

Below the device, you have your Micro USB port, microphone, and speaker grille.

Behind the Desire 10 Pro’s clean lines is its 20-megapixel f/2.2 main camera. It is large and does bulge out of the smartphone’s back, so a case is advisable if you are annoyed at not being able to put the phone flat on the table (or accidentally scratching the camera lens). You also find the fingerprint scanner here.

The Desire 10 Pro is equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It displays colors very well–perfect if you want to view photos taken from the main camera or from its 13-megapixel, f/2.2 front camera.

Using the device is a breeze with its 4GB RAM and Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 processor. The amount of RAM the phone has will be helpful for multitasking, but it is geared more to moderate users. Playing games with this phone should not be a problem, but expect a drop in frame rates for graphic intensive games. Storage issues? No worries, as this smartphone is packed with 64GB of internal storage, and you can expand that with a microSD card for up to 256GB.

That’s what we have for our quick review. We will be testing the Desire 10 Pro in the coming days, and see how much of a bargain this smartphone is.

The Desire 10 Pro is priced at Php 13,990.
