Facebook Discontinues Messenger Day Feature; Introduces Stories and Stories for Groups

Both the Facebook and Messenger App have the same Stories feature

No need to be confused as to where you want to put your Facebook stories.

Following the enabling cross-posting of Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories (but not the other way around), Facebook has killed off Messenger stories and Direct Inbox, and instead has a singular “Stories” feature.

This effort is Facebook’s means to streamline its services, and to reduce the number of Snapchat-esque clones in its ecosystem. With the new “Stories” feature, all of your 24-hour posts will be visible to both Messenger and Facebook app. They will be synced in both apps, ensuring that you don’t view the same story twice.

The new “Stories” feature will be viewable on the Facebook Lite app, and they are currently working on making the Facebook Lite app have the ability to post via the “Stories” feature.

In addition, Facebook also introduced Stories for Groups and Events, which is basically a collaboration of posts by members of a group. Here’s a short video of how it works:
