With all the talk about self-driving cars on the web lately, it was only matter of time that companies like Uber would start taking a look if they could tap into its potential. They’ve been making key moves to make this happen (moves such as: hiring an engineer from Ford and people from the robotics lab of Carnegie Mellon University), and it was announced this past Thursday that they would indeed be starting to test out their test vehicle in the next few weeks around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The test car will be collecting data while out in the field to perhaps to help other self-driving cars under the Uber brand in the coming future. With these tests and its self-driving car, Uber hopes to reduce the number of vehicular accidents caused by human error.
