Samsung’s beefing up its entry-level J series of phone with a not-so entry-level device – the J7 Prime. The new phone has been outed in Samsung’s Vietnam website, and sports several key features that would make it a logical upgrade for people who want to jump from the lower J series of devices.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime Specs

  • 1.6GHz octa-core processor
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 5.5-inch full HD display, 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 32GB of expandable storage
  • 13-megapixel rear camera, f/1.9 aperture, LED flash
  • 8-megapixel front camera/ f/1.9 aperture
  • Dual SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, Fingerprint scanner
  • Android 6.0 Marhsmallow
  • 3,300mAh battery

First off, the new phone packs a 5.5-inch full HD display, along with an 1.6GHz octa-core processor, and 3GB of RAM. There’s 32GB of storage on board that can be further expanded via microSD.

The J7 Prime also sports a shiny new fingerprint scanner at the home button located on the bottom. The phone also packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, while the front camera has 8-megapixels and an f/1.9 aperture.

The J7 Prime is priced at VND 6,290,000, which is about 13.1K in our currency. It’s a fair chunk of change for a J-series phone, but it may be worth it because of the mid-range features.
