Real Steel for real!
A few weeks ago American robot company MegaBots issued a challenge to Suidobashi Heavy Industry, the creator of the Kuratas robot. The challenge was simple: a one-on-one duel that pits their MegaBots Mark 2 against the OG mech of Suidobashi, Kuratas. The challenge was sent out via a public YouTube video that showed the strengths of the MegaBots Mark 2 – namely, the high speed, hard hitting guns on both arms of the robot, which is something you’d expect from something that was built in the US.
Obviously, Kogo Kurata, couldn’t take the challenge lying down – Japan is a country that is inexplicably linked to robot culture, after all – and have accepted the challenge. As per the terms of the original challenge sent out by the MegaBots Mark 2 creator, the match will happen a year from now, in a yet undetermined arena. Kuratas also said that the match should be melee combat since he wants to “punch them to scrap and knock them down to do it.”
And that’s it! This time next year, we’ll have a robot match to end all robot matches! Who do you think will win in this robotic duel? We just hope it turns out better than that Robot Jox scene (you know what we’re talking about).
