Multiply.com to close down on May 6

Just in case you haven’t heard about it yet, social shopping website Multiply.com is closing down on May 6, 2013. This is definitely sad news especially since they’ve focused so much on revising the site so that they can service the online shopping needs of Filipinos. Multiply.com has been the haven for affordable gadgets for years now and we just want to say thank you to them, their managers, and their merchants for their services. You guys rock.

That said, here are three things we will miss from Multiply.com:

Widget City

Widget City has been our favorite go-to store for quick gadget purchases. They’ve always been fast in getting new products in the country at very competitive prices. While they won’t be present on Multiply anymore it’s good to note that their founder, Martin Bornilla, was able to set up an independent site for Widget City.

Kimstore

Kimstore is nothing short of a legend in the local tech scene. Not only was she one of the first major success stories of Multiply, her store was instrumental in getting affordable smartphones in the hands of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos. I don’t think Kim has already set-up a site of her own but we hope that she does so ASAP so that people can still avail of her services.

DB Gadgets

I remember buying our first DSLR camera from DB Gadgets a few years ago. Awesome experience. Meet up with some dude with a backpack in the foodcourt of Shangrila Mall. Watch him take out gadgets worth hundreds of thousands of pesos from his bag. Having that mental bubble pop up in my head saying “he probably has one of the most dangerous jobs ever.”

Thanks again to the awesome people of Multiply. Chin up folks!
