Apple Shops, Not Retail Stores, Now Open in Manila

In the last two-three days we’ve been asked if it’s true that there is now an official Apple Store here in the Philippines. Yugatech earlier reported that the first Apple store was now open in BGC and was managed by Abenson’s. We did some digging and as it turns out there’s a big difference between an APPLE STORE and an APPLE SHOP. What opened in the Philippines are two APPLE SHOPS managed by Abenson’s. These are not your typical Apple Retail Stores.

According to the Apple website, here’s what Apple Shops are:

Apple Shops are Apple-designed outlets located within select Apple resellers and other retail stores. Many are staffed with Apple-trained experts who can help you find the right solution for you.

They’re not Apple Retail stores. These are much smaller outlets that are within Apple Resellers. They’re kinda like the same level of Premium Resellers (or maybe a step higher?) but not at the same level of the official Apple Retail Stores.

Lastly, I’ve personally been to several Apple Stores in several countries and based on what I’ve seen from the photos, those are definitely not official Apple Retail Stores.
