Bayantel Flunks NTC’s DSL Speed Testing

And to Think This was at the NTC HQ!

The National Telecommunications Commission finally started doing speed tests to verify the speed claims of the various telcos for their DSL services. The first test that they did last Thursday was held at their main office and they checked if PLDT, Globe, Sky, and Bayantel would be able to reach their advertised speeds. Among all the telcos, Bayantel was the one that really flunked big time.

The results can be found in the news report that ABS-CBN filed which we’ve embedded above for your viewing pleasure. We’ve also summarized their results below.

PLDT: 3.367 Mbps (PASS)
GLOBE: 2.785 Mbps (COMPLIANT)
SKY: 2.818 Mbps (COMPLIANT)
BAYANTEL: 0.563 Mbps (FAIL)

In a statement, Bayantel said that the tests could have been inaccurate because of the various factors that could have affected the speed.

“There is reason to believe that it may not present an accurate reading of our service to our customers.” -Bayantel

The NTC will do another series of tests this October in various locations that the telcos don’t know. The results of the tests will be published in daily papers and sent out via media alerts to the press.

We initially were doubtful of this initiative by the NTC. However it looks like it’s turning out to be a shame campaign for telcos not living up to their advertised speeds. We’re definitely excited to see the results that will come out next month, hehe. ๐Ÿ˜›

PS: The NTC will move on to do mobile Internet testing later this year. Now that one is something that a lot of people are looking forward to seeing.

    HA! Trolololol!

    1. Magsubscribe ka muna sa bayantel bago ka magsalita ng tapos. Ewan ko lang kung babalik ka pa sa pldt pag naexperience mo ang smooth internet gaming sa bayantel.

    1. Agree.

    1. Your Bayantel connection doesn’t reflect the Majority, same thing sa PLDT users sa area mo, they don’t reflect the majority….and since bumibili lang ng bandwidth ang Bayantel sa PLDT, there is no fugging way na mas reliable ang Bayantel…Pero kung ang ratio ng stats ang papaniwalaan ko, di hamak na mas reliable ang PLDT kesa Bayantel or Globe

  3. Bayantel used to be pretty reliable and unlimited…haha..subscriber ako noong 2005 pero pinaputol ko din after 1 year….ANYARE Bayantel?

  4. A simple speed test may not cut it; a trip to speedtest.net is not enough to give you a real picture (especially bad because speedtest still uses Flash for their tests). You want to do a multithreaded test after the standard single-server test, then use other tools to measure overall bandwidth like those found on M-Lab. Heck, even download a linux distro via P2P and max out overall connections to see how much you can really pipe through.

  5. bayantel user ako. kasi kapitbahay namin ung main office nila. 3mbps user ako for almost 7years now. no problem pag may bagyo lang nagloloko. mga twice a year lang nawawalan ng internet. ๐Ÿ™‚

FOR US PINOYS, THIS INFORMATION IS REALLY DEPRESSING…

FOR THE PH, THIS IS AN UNFORTUNATE CAUSE FOR INTERNATIONAL SHAME!!!

WHAT OUR LOCAL TELCOS HAVE BEEN BRAGGING ABOUT IN THEIR ADS TO BE “THE LEADER IN DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY” ARE ALL LIES & DECEPTIONS… PURE GIMMICKRY!!!

GUYS PLEASE DO REALIZE THAT LOCALLY WHAT WE ARE PAYING BIG FOR WITH OUR HARD EARNED MONEY IS ACTUALLY CONSIDERED JUST GARBAGE INTERNET SERVICE IN MOST OTHER COUNTRIES.

IS THIS THE WAY THAT THE LOCAL TELCOS ARE DOING THEIR BUSINESS, ALL THROUGH CHEATING & FALSEHOOD… OMG!!!

THE LOCAL TELCOS SHOULD ALL WAKE UP WITH THE GREATEST OF GUILT FOR THEM TO APOLOGIZE TO THE FILIPINO PUBLIC & COMMIT TO THE IMMEDIATE REFORMATION.

HEY… NTC & DTI, YOU ARE BOTH TO DO THE JOB THAT WE ARE PAYING YOU FOR. OUR LOCAL TELCOS ARE THE WORST IN THE WORLD!!!

THEY ARE ALL USELESS, LOOK FOR NEW ONES!!!
