Bellroy iPhone Cases: Made with Real Vegetable-Tanned Leather

There are a lot of iPhone owners out there and one of the ways iOS users can stand out in the crowd is buying really spiffy cases that also protect their device. Enter the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus cases by Bellroy. Bellroy is mostly known for making great looking wallets, but now they’re applying their expertise in handling leather to their cases. If you happen to be vegan and want a leather case, this one might be for you — they’re made from vegetable-tanned leather.

*Thanks to our reader Carl who corrected us on the vegetable-tanned leather:

“Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned using tannins and other ingredients found in different vegetable matter, such as tree bark prepared in bark mills, wood, leaves, fruits, and roots. It is supple and brown in color, with the exact shade depending on the mix of chemicals and the color of the skin.”

The iPhone cases by Bellroy range from Php 2,000 to Php 3,000 and are available through their site (Yes, they do ship here) or you can purchase them through Urban Traveller & Company.

  1. FYI, there’s no such thing as leather made from vegetable. The correct term is vegetable-tanned leather. From wikipedia: “Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned using tannins and other ingredients found in different vegetable matter, such as tree bark prepared in bark mills, wood, leaves, fruits, and roots. It is supple and brown in color, with the exact shade depending on the mix of chemicals and the color of the skin.”
