Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro Unboxing, Quick Review: Crimson-Colored Competitor

Around October last year, Cloudfone made huge waves in the tech scene by introducing their new Next series of smartphones. All of these four devices had 18:9 displays with pretty respectable spec sheets and the price tag that came along with it. We’ve already done our full reviews for the top-of-the-line version of the Next series — the Quattro — and the base model too but the third of the Next series of smartphones just arrived at Unbox HQ so it’s time to give you guys a quick look before it goes through our review process.

What’s Inside the Box?

No surprises here. The Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro comes in pretty much the same packaging as its brothers with the difference of the “Pro” moniker you see on the bottom right of the box and the unboxing experience isn’t much of a difference either. You’re greeted by the device once you’ve lifted the cover of the box and you get a separate compartment for other accessories, such as the earphones, wall charger, and the micro USB cable. Under the device, you have a jelly case that comes with the device as well as a screen protector plus the usual set of documents and the SIM ejector tool too.

Initial Impressions: Digging the Red for Valentine’s Day

One the first things we noticed about the Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro was the color it came in — Red. A lot of smartphone brands have their own take on having a crimson colored device but the photos from the local brand’s Facebook posts hardly do it any justice. Aside from that it feels quite good in the hand and seems to be well-crafted with its metal unibody build. The volume rocker has a nice tactile feel to them but the power button is noticeable mushier. We’re not sure if that was done on purpose but, thankfully, it works without a hitch.

Speaking of the volume rocker and power button, you’ll find them on the right side of the device.

Access to the SIM tray is found on the left side. You guys should be happy to know that it has triple slotted trays, so you’re good to go for a secondary number and expandable storage as well.

You have the speaker grille and micro USB port on the bottom of the device.

Lastly, you have the headphone jack up on top.

We mentioned the rear camera earlier and, as you may have noticed, it does stick out just a little bit from the body of the device but the included jelly case should keep it from getting knicked. The camera itself is at 16-megapixels and is equipped with PDAF and an LED flash. It still features a portrait mode but you’ll have to wait for the full review to see how it actually performs since it is rocking an undisclosed Samsung sensor.

Right below the rear camera is the fingerprint scanner and so far, so good. It’s fairly accurate but let’s see how it fares with prolonged use.

One of the main features of all the phones in the Next series is they all have 18:9 display, The Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro has a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel that’s protected by 2.5D curved glass. It’s got all the qualities that make a decent IPS LCD display nut right off the bat, we can tell that it’ll have a bit of trouble performing in the outdoors with the sun beating down on it.

On top of the display are the devices dual front cameras, You have a 20-megapixel main camera with an 8-megapixel wide angle secondary cam. The front cameras have their own LED flash for taking selfies where there lighting isn’t as good and you’ve got the bokeh effect for your self-portraits too. You have a Sony sensor for the front cameras, which has also piqued my interest to see if we can get great selfies with this phone.

The Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. I can seriously hear some of you all cringe at the SoC chosen for the Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro but it is still a staple in most mid-range to entry-level smartphones so it’s no surprise we’re seeing it here. You’ve got Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box with Cloudfone’s own UI.

For power, you have a 3000mAh battery that supports fast charging to help you top up your device fast so you don’t have to tell your friends that you’ll catch up because you need more juice for your device.

The Cloudfone Next Infinity Pro is priced at Php 9,999 and should already be available at Cloudfone kiosks and their partners as well.
