5 Cheap Smartphones Under P5,000 for Online Schooling, Social, and Light Gaming!

“Ano naman gagawin ko sa budget phone? lag naman yan pag dating sa games at kahit sa browsing!”

If you said that to us 5-7 years ago, we might have agreed with you. But now, we’re lucky to be living in a time where mainstream phone brands pump out a new model every 3 or so months, where up and coming brands actually provide good value even at the entry-level segment.

That’s why we were able to curate these phones under Php 5K for you!  These will cover your basic needs from online learning, browsing, and maybe even some light gaming.

A quick disclaimer though, don’t expect too much out of these phones; seamless multi-tasking, selfies that make you look like an immaculate K-Pop Star and max graphics setting on your games are way above their pay-grade. With that out of the way, check out these phones:

UMIDIGI A5 Pro

Php 4,990

UMIDIGI’s A5 Pro is proof that people don’t need to limit themselves to the usual brands when they’re shopping for a new phone. It packs quite a punch for the price with its 4,150 MaH battery, triple camera setup and 4GBs of RAM. These features give it an edge over the other phones here so definitely, shop it here!

Infinix Hot 9 Play

From Php 5,299 to Php 4,799

The Hot 9 Play boasts a whopping 6,000 MAH battery and a huge 6.82-inch display; some features you might not be expecting from a phone in this segment, couple this with its power efficient Android Go OS, and the 9 Play is a clear winner. Its definitely a good pick if you’re worried about running out of battery during your online classes or when you simply get sucked into the Youtube rabbit hole. Grab one here while its still on a discount!

Huawei Y5p

PHP 4,490

Huawei’s entry level offering, the Y5p isn’t a bad option too. Its P22 processor and 2GBs of RAM will get your basic day-to-day tasks done! We find the design could be somewhat dated, considering the other phones on the list, but hey, if you’re someone just looking for a smartphone to start with and get stuff done, get it here!

Vivo Y91C

Php 4,999

Even though its an old model from last year, the Y91C from vivo is still a good buy because of its 4000 MaH battery, adequate processor and the sleek looking design. It’s the most affordable offering from the brand and is now even more affordable from its original SRP of Php 6,499. Shop it here!

Ulefone Note 7

Php 2,899

The most affordable phone, the Ulefone Note 7. It might not be the most powerful machine out of the phones on the list but this green colorway, the design and other features for its price makes it hard not to recommend this phone. You can grab the Note 7 here!

Redmi 9a

Php 4,980

If you can’t resist the urge to join the Xiaomi hype train,  you can still purchase the Redmi 9a from here with a free power bank to boot! You can check out our first impressions and Unboxing of the 9a to see if it’s the right fit for you!

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Realme C11

Php 4,990

Along with 9a, the Realme C11 is one of the newest releases out of the bunch. Aside from the helpful features it has for online learning and media consumption, we’ve got to say that the design on this phone belongs to at least, a price segment above it; the “glasstic” finish and accents on the plastic are simply just touches you can’t ignore. Demand is high for the C11, and it’s currently out of stock,  so for now add it to your wish list here. We’ll update this list once its available again!

Cherry Flare S8

Php 3,999

There are better features to be had with the other phones from the Flare S8 series, but the S8 just hits the sweet spot in the budget segment with its processor and 3GB of RAM. It’s also a plus that you’re buying local. Shop it here!

And that’s it, hopefully it helps you make a purchase for your online needs and a better entertainment experience during these times. Stay safe Unbox Fam!

  1. Stay away from Infinix, terrible phones, I bought the Hot S8 even the stickers on the photo app sucks, its like they are floating when you apply them on your photos, they don’t even apply exactly on your photos like the stickers on realme. you have been warned.
