Experiencing Dragon Con through the Samsung Galaxy Note 8

I entered Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia armed with 2 things: my press badge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.  It was a 4-day affair that entailed hours of waiting in line for panel discussions, chasing after cosplayers for photos and squeezing your way through the thick crowd just to get from point A to point B. Was it exhausting?  Totally.  Was it worth it?  Most definitely!  Still, I decided to make life simpler for myself and chose to use the Note 8 as my main driver so I don’t have to lug around a camera and tripod.  Here’s my Dragon Con experience through the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Amazing Snaps with Impressive Zoom Capabilities

I had no regrets choosing the Note 8 for taking photos.  Considering that I had to take them as quickly as possible, it allowed me to to capture significant moments during the event without missing a beat.  These are some of my favorites.

I also had to zoom a lot especially during the Dragon Con parade as there were a lot of people and not even my media badge could get me past them.  The picture quality turned out to be incredibly impressive even when I had to zoom to take photos of moving subjects from afar.

Facial Recognition that Unlocks Very Quickly
I needed the Note 8 to Unlock quickly especially for celebrity photo ops and for cosplayers who are in demand.  As much as I’d like to use the fingerprint scanner for better security, the location was a bit awkward for my small hands.  The iris scanner was a bit too sensitive as well and did not unlock as fast as I needed it to during the event.  The facial recognition, while offering medium security, unlocked the phone in a snap which was my priority at that time.  It did not disappoint.

Battery that Lasts the Whole Day
I brought a powerbank in case the Note 8 needed extra juice in the middle of the day but I had no use for it at all.  Considering all the photos and videos I took (a total of 1,200 for the entire conference), the battery held up pretty well and I only had to charge when I got home at night.  Take note that I hardly used LTE during the event.

Stunning Edge-to-Edge Display

I know you’ve probably read all about the Note 8’s edge-to-edge display but i cannot say it enough – it is incredibly stunning!  I really enjoyed going through all the photos I took at the end of the day.  I was totally impressed by the vivid colors and crisp images.

Would I use the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for similar experiences in the future?  Definitely.  The only thing holding me back from getting one for myself is the price point but for those who have cash to spare, it may be worth considering.
