It’s Mi fever!
Xiaomi’s back baby! After two years, Xiaomi has returned to the Philippines. The company, with Grimalkin Corporation, opened the first ever Mi Authorized Reseller store in the Philippines today to a throng (and we do mean throng) of excited Mi fans.
Seriously, the line for the store, located at the fifth floor of the Trinoma mall near Cinema 5, was insane, snaking from the store to the cinema promenade past Timezone all the way to McDonalds. And that was at 10AM!
But for many, it was worth it, since it meant they had the chance to buy a ton of Xiaomi products that carried official warranties from the company. We’ll be detailing the stuff you can buy from the store in a separate post, but take our word for it when we say it’s substantial, and includes items like their Mi Notebook Air and Air Pro, as well as their 4K TVs.
A Xiaomi rep was on hand for the opening, but unfortunately, he was tight-lipped about the extent of Xiaomi’s involvement in the store opening. Grimalkin reps were similarly curt and did not go into the details of their partnership with the brand with us during the event, promising an update via a press release in a few day’s time.
But as far as the important stuff goes, it seemingly looks like Xiaomi’s back in the Philippines as far as an official store is concerned. The brand may be emulating Apple’s authorized reseller model that stores like PowerMac are currently using, which sees official support and updates of products without having to go into the nitty-gritty of actually running a brick and mortar location.
Grimalkin will be opening a second store in Megamall in the future, so Mi fans won’t have to go too far north to enjoy a taste of Xiaomi’s products.
