For Travel Junkies: Check Out the New Google Tap to Translate and Word Lens

We’re here at Google I/O at the Google Campus in Mountain View, California, and we’ve spent the last day doing exclusive interviews with several Google executives. We’re the only Philippine media here (whew) so it’s definitely an exciting time for us. In guys you haven’t seen them yet, we’ve been uploading a lot of new videos on the Unbox YouTube channel. Make sure you check them out and subscribe.

Anyway, to kick things off check out the video above. It’s a video we shot of a demo of two features of Google Translate. The first is “Tap to Translate” which allows you to translate text that you find on your phone (web browser, messaging apps, etc) in another language to a language or your choosing. There’s also Google Translate Word Lens which lets you translate words via your camera. It’s a definite must download for all the travel junkies out there. 🙂

PS — only works right now on select phones. They pushed the update out a week or two ago to the latest Android build so to those using Nexus phones should have this already.
