Hooray! It’s finally official – both Globe and PLDT has finally signed the memorandum of agreement that lowers interconnect costs across the board for voice calls via mobile phones, land lines and vice-versa.
The interconnect costs for calls will drop by 40% to just 2.50 per minute across-the-board, starting on January 1, 2017. Right now costs for mobile to mobile calls and landline to mobile voice calls are Php 4.00 a minute, while mobile to landline voice calls are Php 3.00 a minute.
“We are supporting government’s efforts to bring down the cost of telecom services in the country. This agreement will translate in different ways to more affordable voice call rates for our subscribers,” PLDT Director and Head of Regulatory Affairs and Policy Office Ray C. Espinosa said.
