Government OK’s Makati-BGC Skytrain

It’ll be a faster way of moving from one CBD to another

Despite being roughly four kilometers away from each other, travelling from Makati and Bonifacio Global City during rush hour traffic is a gigantic hassle. That’s why the news of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) green-lighting the proposed Makati-BGC Skytrain monorail project of the Infracorp Development Inc. is welcome news, as it will finally allow anyone to travel from one location to another in just 5 minutes.

The project, projected to cost at Php 3 billion pesos, will use automated cable-propelled monorail technology. One nice benefit from the project is the interconnection of other transport hubs where the monorail will pass through, which the company estimates will benefit around 60,000 to 100,000 commuters daily.

“We laud the government’s quick action to the proposal. This is another clear indication of the government’s serious commitment and focus on infrastructure developments,” said Kevin Tan, Infracorp president.

“There is really an urgent need to connect the two major business districts of Makati and Taguig, and this project will make that into a reality,” said Tan.

With the positive endorsment of the government, the project will now go through a review by the National Economic and Development Authority’s Investment Coordination Committee.
