Lenovo’s Lavie Mini Is A Weird Switch-like Hybrid

Alongside Lenovo’s more conventional laptop announcements during CES this year is their Lavie Mini prototype. This Switch-like mini-laptop hybrid is a joint venture between the Chinese company and Japan’s NEC Corporation.

It’s ridiculously quirky – with an 8-inch display, it feels like netbooks of yore, if said netbook was given a 360-degree hinge and a 2-in-1 form-factor.

That’s not the weirdest part about this though. The Lavie Mini can take optional game controllers on the side, which allows it to be used as a handheld PC console for games.

It’s likely not going to be a gaming powerhouse, though it’ll come with an Intel Core i7 mobile processor along with built-in graphics thanks to Xe Graphics. Other features include 16GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD, and a WiFi 6 capabilities.

The display is a 1,920 x 1,200 (WUXGA), and the total weight is just 1.28 pounds.

There’s no word if this prototype will be ever put into serious production, but we’d love to give it a try if they do.
