Good news or bad news? According to a report by Manila Bulletin, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Friday approved a resolution banning provincial buses from traversing EDSA, along with the eventual removal of their terminals from the thoroughfare.

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Emerson Carlos said that the move aims to improve the traffic situation on EDSA, which is known for its horrible gridlocks and traffic jams during primetime. The chairman said that the vote for the resolution was “unanimous.”

Based on the MMDA’s records, there are 85 provincial bus companies in Metro Manila, with terminals in Cubao, Balintawak, and Taft Avenue. Around 3,300 provincial buses and 12,000 city buses ply through EDSA daily, according to the department.
