Smart’s efforts in improving its 4G coverage is paying off, as the latest Opensignal report indicates that it has surpassed Globe in terms of 4G availability for both urban and rural areas.
Based on data obtained from September 1 to November 30, Smart’s 4G availability in rural areas improved to 70.1%, surpassing Globe’s 64.8% coverage. The same goes for urban areas, where Smart edged out Globe with an 82.5% 4G coverage.
Beyond improved 4G coverage, Smart maintains its lead with 4G download speeds, as its rural and urban download speeds are at 8.8mbps and 10.5mbps respectively—that it at least 2mbps and 3mbps better than what Globe offers in rural and urban areas respectively.
