OPPO’s “5x” Smartphone Photography to be Unveiled at the MWC

The Mobile World Congress (MWC), happening from February 27 to March 2, 2017 in Barcelona Spain, is fast approaching and everyone from the tech scene is excited to know all about the latest news and releases. Most of the tech giants are expected to be there along with the rising stars of the industry.

For the first time ever, OPPO will be participating to present their breakthrough technology for smartphone cameras called the “5x” project. This will allow OPPO phones to capture images with unprecedented quality.

“OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography,” said OPPO VP and Managing Director of International Mobile Business, Sky Li.

“We chose MWC to unveil the “5x” technology in the belief that we can inspire the industry to aim higher, and continue to create pioneering products that give amazing experiences for consumers,” Sky Added.

The quality of smartphone cameras is always one of the key considerations when choosing a phone. Looking back, OPPO’s Ulike 2 model was the first smartphone to offer pre-installed beautification feature. This is now a staple in almost every Android phone. The beautification feature has since evolved to Beautify 4.0.

In 2016, OPPO introduced the camera-focused F-series. The second phone in the “Selfie Expert” series, the FI Plus, was the first OPPO device to sport a 16 megapixel front camera. In the same year, OPPO partnered with Sony to co-develop the ½.8-inch IMX398 sensor for the R9s for improved focusing speed, noise reduction and low-light performance.

Gfk, a German market research firm reported that OPPO is the 2nd bestselling smartphone brand in the Philippines. It achieved its ranking in less than 3 years in the Philippine Market. It was also reported that OPPO is the fourth bestselling smartphone brand in the world.

Will the “5x” project that they will unveil at MWC propel them to greater heights? We will soon find out.
