As ABS-CBN currently faces uncertainty after its franchise was denied by the House of Representatives, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano proposes that ABS-CBN artists should create their own content companies, similar to what Vice Ganda recently did by opening his own network.
“Stars can come together, invest, and can have their own content company,” Cayetano said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source. In return, Cayetano thinks that the government should follow the examples done by Korea, India, and the US in how their own governments help in supporting artists.
Currently, Cayetano said that DOLE can provide assistance to those affected but only for the short term. As a response, Cayetano said that they are discussing several proposals in Congress, including the creation of a government agency for Culture and Arts.
