Google to Open Operations Center in The Philippines

Google to Open Operations Center in The Philippines

A first for the country

Here’s something we Filipinos should be proud of: Google is reportedly eyeing an expansion in the Philippines by opening its first operations center in the country. Scheduled to open by first half of 2019, the new office aims to employ around 40 people.

Google’s spokesperson told Businessworld that they expect to “hire increasingly by hundreds and then thousands as we build it out.” In addition, they believe that they “can find the best talent for the work that need to be done” here in the Philippines.

The operations center aims to provide support and troubleshooting for various Google products such as YouTube Ads, Google Pay, Google Wallet, Google Hardware and Google Maps. Google Pay and Google Wallet are not yet available in the Philippines, but we will not be surprised if Google offers both services to our country.

Right now, Google’s office in the Philippines is focused on digital marketing, and they have expressed their interest to expand their workforce since opening its office in Bonifacio Global City last year.
