Aside from package delivery services, Lalamove also has a food delivery arm called LalaFood, which was introduced back in 2018. The service catered food deliveries within Metro Manila, but things did not go in their favor, as Lalamove decided to end its LalaFood operations this year.
In their Facebook post, Lalamove announced that they are closing their food delivery arm so that they can focus solely on their core delivery business. LalaFood also adds that February 15 is their last day of operations.
Aside from the sad post, LalaFood also thanks its customers, partner riders, and merchants for the three years they were in operation. “We are committed to strengthening our investment in the Philippines to better serve our customers and provide more opportunities for our driver-partners and employees,” Lalamove said in its statement.
Not everything is sad with the plan to end its LalaFood business, as Lalamove continues to focus on its core delivery business this 2021, the delivery platform said that they have expansion plans in Manila and Pampanga. Last month, Lalamove introduced a sedan option for delivering items at up to 200kg and perfectly slots in between its motorcycle and MPV categories.
For food delivery services, LalaFood users can opt to use GrabFood and FoodPanda–two of the most popular food delivery services in the country.
