PLDT Credits its Data and Broadband Business to its Optimistic 1H 2017 Report

All is good for the telecommunications giant.

For telecommunications magnate PLDT, it is mostly good news as they presented their 1st half 2017 report on August 10.

The company’s Consolidated Core Income amounted to Php 17.4 billion for the first half of 2017. While it is 2% lower than last year’s figures, it is 72% higher when compared to figures for the company’s second half 2016. The same can be said for their Reported Net Income, amounting to Php 16.5 billion: 33% higher compared to last year, and 119% higher compared to the company’s second half 2016.

Major drivers to PLDT’s growth this year is with its data and broadband businesses. For PLDT Home alone, an additional 354k subscribers was realized for this year. The same goes for PLDT Enterprise, which its head Jovy Hernandez describes it as “growing like never before”. With these in mind, PLDT continues to expand its data business, rolling out more fiber optic cable facilities with PLDT Fibr and pushing for LTE adoption across the country, which includes installing WiFi hotspots in high-traffic areas like EDSA and upgrading LTE speeds.
