PLDT Expanding FTTH By 80%, Targets 4.4 Million Homes At End Of 2017

There’s nothing like having a fiber connection at home, and we really can’t emphasize enough how much of a gamechanger having fast, dependable internet at home is. This is why PLDT’s expansion of their fiber-to-the-home service is a boon to anyone that’s been suffering at the hands of slow, expensive DSL.

PLDT’s CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan has pledged that they will be expanding the reach of their Fibr FTTH service by about 80%, or around 4.4 million homes passed at end of the year. Fiber services are being rolled out not only in Metro Manila but in other provinces in the Philippines as well.

“We are stepping up our efforts to deliver unrivalled internet services to more homes in various parts of the country, from the Ilocos provinces in the North to Zamboanga in the South,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Currently PLDT’s Fibr service covers provinces like Laoag, Baguio City, Vigan City, and Tuguegarao in Northern Luzon; Tarlac, Cabanatuan City, and San Fernando, Pampanga in Central Luzon; and, Puerto Princesa and El Nido in Palawan, down to the Bicol region cities of Sorsogon, Naga, and Legazpi.
