PLDT Launches their First “Fibr City” in Toledo City, Cebu

The telco plans to build more “Fibr Cities” in the future, as part of their plans to accelerate fiber rollout.

PLDT, in partnership with the local government of Toledo City, Cebu, has established the first “Fibr City” in the country. Now, Toledo residents can live in an urban setting “where families and enterprises can enjoy world-class Internet connectivity.”

“Fitted with the country’s most powerful broadband, Toledo City will now have access to fiber-fast Internet speeds of as much as 1 gigabit per second,” PLDT First Vice President and Head of Home Business Oscar Reyes Jr. said.

Toledo City has seen massive growth with its mining industry and tourism sector for a while now. PLDT plans to expand its services in the area by opening a Sales and Service Center on D. Macapagal Highway to serve the increasing demands of the region.

“PLDT Home’s decision to pioneer its first Fibr City in Toledo is part of expansion plans in Central Philippines where we are accelerating our fiber rollout aimed at bringing the strongest connections to more Filipinos,” Reyes explained.

PLDT has projected that all of its subscribers will be FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) and fiber-fast enabled, with “smart homes” by the end of 2018.
