PLDT Partners with Streaming Platform – Roku

untitled-1
PLDT has just successfully signed their partnership with the world’s leading video streaming platform, Roku. Roku has nine million active accounts under their belt, which spans across 10 countries; including the US, United Kingdom, and Australia. Their deal with local telco, PLDT, marks their first foray into the Asian market.

The deal means that starting the second quarter of 2017, we’ll be seeing Roku set top boxes on our TV consoles that will be streaming content from iflix, Signal TV, and other streaming services, like: YouTube or HBO Go.

Oscar Reyes Jr., PLDT FVP and Head of HOME Operations says:

“We are seeing a growing demand for internet-delivered TV services in the country and there is no better partner for us to give Filipinos the world of entertainment than Roku which has the largest base of active streaming users in the world,”

“Roku’s powerful platform will be a strong complement to PLDT HOME’s current array of content from various providers that include iflix and Fox International Channels,”

If you remember PLDT was one of the first to invest in what is now the leading Internet streaming service in Southeast Asia — iflix — and with Roku on their side, we’re guessing we can see them make more moves in this direction.
