Razer CEO Visits PH, Wants eSports Included In The SEA Games

This is a great idea

Three days ago Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan announced on Twitter that he was in town. With no major announcement or concept store to grace with his presence, what is the gaming CEO doing in the Philippines?

Turns out he was meeting with Alan Peter Cayetano and the rest of the South East Asian Games Executive Board on the possible inclusion of eSports as a medal sports in next year’s SEAG.

The Philippines will be the host nation for the 2019 SEAG, which will be held in Capas in New Clark City. While Cayetano’s official Facebook page did not disclose the result of the meeting, chances of eSports being included in next year’s game is very good – the Olympic Council of Asia announced last year that it will include eSports in this year’s Asian games, and will become a medal sport in 2022.

The Philippines has produced many eSports athlethes that regularly compete against the best of the best. TNC Pro Team managed to knock out European powerhouse OG in The International 6, and other local eSports athletes have been drafted to play in other teams overseas.
