5G means lower latency
5G tech isn’t all about speed, in fact, one of the biggest benefits of the new wireless technology is low latency. Lower latency = low ping, and generally the lower the ping the better you do in multiplayer games like Mobile Legends.
That was demonstrated earlier today during an exhibition match between PLDT-Smart Omega and Cignal Ultra Warriors held at PLDT’s corporate headquarters in Makati City. Showcased during the event were the Huawei Mate 5G, the OPPO Reno 5G, and ZTE’s Axion 5G handsets.
5G is the perfect technology for applications that require incredibly low latency and is fast enough for critical applications like self-driving and autonomous cars.
It’s more than enough to give gamers the low ping they’ve always craved when playing online in games like Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile.
Smart is ramping up its 5G deployment this year and has hit several milestones back in 2019 in the run-up to the eventual consumer launch of the new wireless tech in 2020.
The company has already started deploying 5G-ready SIM cards since last year and was the first to make a pure 5G call in SEA. Smart has also finished putting towers in Araneta Cubao, as well as Clark in Pampanga.
