Gradually Being Restored as You Read This

If you can’t connect to 3G or 4G on your Smart mobile device, it’s not because you don’t have load or your postpaid line was terminated. Smart just announced that their mobile Internet services are temporarily down due to “unexpected difficulties during a systems upgrade” last night. They did say they’re working on getting the service back up but there’s no firm timeline yet (we’re hoping it goes back up before lunch).

UPDATE: We just heard from Smart and PLDT Public Affairs Head Mon Isberto and he said that services are already gradually being restored. Hopefully everything will be back to normal in the next few hours.

That said, we strongly advise you to plan your morning and maybe even afternoon properly given that you won’t have mobile Internet. This is probably more critical for people who use services such as Uber, Grab, and mobile banking applications such as BPI.

To those wondering about the on-going upgrade, Smart has embarked on a massive network overhaul to make sure that Internet services significantly improve by end of this year. No less than Smart Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan mentioned that during a press conference back in May. Crossing our fingers for this one!
