New iPhone to Feature OLED Display, Might Be All Glass

We can expect the next iPhone to have a beautiful OLED display as essentially confirmed by Tai Jeng-wu from Foxconn Technology Group in his recent trip to Tatung University in Taiwan. You’ve probably heard of Foxconn before because they’re an essential partner of Apple when it comes to the assembly and manufacturing of the iPhone in China.

“The iPhone has been evolving and now it is switching from LTPS (low-temperature poly-silicon) to OLED panels. We don’t know whether Apple’s OLED iPhones will be a hit, but if Apple doesn’t walk down this path and transform itself, there will be no innovation.” – Tai Jeng-wu, Foxconn

So what does the switch to OLED mean? We might be looking at an all-glass iPhone 8 next year. If you’ve been hesitating to upgrade to the iPhone 7, this should support your decision to wait. It looks like the iPhone 8 will be a really major upgrade and that’s something that we’ve been waiting for Apple to do for years now.
