Remember Rosie, the robot maid from the cartoon series, Jetsons? Perhaps she is the closest thing to the LG Hub Robot that most of us can relate to (older millenials raise your hands!).
LG has now entered the robotics industry and the Hub Robot is part of their lineup of intelligent bots. It turns on the air conditioner; changes the dryer cycle; and operates the air purifier to name a few. In short, it acts as an assistant controlling home appliances for your convenience. It can also play music, set alarms, create reminder memos and give real time traffic updates. Oh, and it is also extremely cute especially when it expresses emotions on its face display.
To add to its charm, it can interact with the entire family by responding using body language such as nodding when asked a yes or no question. It knows when family members leave, arrive and go to bed and can even tell members apart through its camera. Hence, it can be programmed to have a unique greeting for everyone at home.
While the internet speed in the country might limit the capabilities of the Hub Robot, it is good to know that a company like LG has been making progress in smart technology and robotics for many years. This year, they applied their knowledge and brought it to a completely different level. It is exciting to see what other advancements they will develop in the coming years.
