The LG Smart Insta View Refrigerator Turns Transparent when you Knock on the Screen

How many times do you open your refrigerator door in a day? For many of us, it has become a habit. We open the door to get water or simply check out what we can munch on. The thing is, precious energy is wasted whenever we do this and it also increases the possibility of food spoilage.

LG’s flagship Door-in-Door refrigerator features a 29-inch touch LCD display that turns transparent with just 2 knocks of the screen. Thanks to this Insta View feature, users can see what’s inside without having to open the door.

However, that’s not all that this product that won the 2017 CES Innovation Award has to offer. It is embedded with convenience features thanks to Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service and LG’s own web OS smart platform. Having this ref is like having an intelligent personal assistant in the kitchen. It can help search recipes, play music while you cook and even place grocery orders from Amazon among other things. The best part is, these commands can be done hands-free by simply using your voice.

The LG Smart Insta View refrigerator also comes with other convenient features. With the Smart Tag, users can input the expiration date of each item placed inside the ref. It will then issue reminders when food is nearing expiration date. Users can also remotely check the contents of the ref with the 2.0 megapixel panoramic super-wide-lens camera that captures images of the interior from every angle. That way, you can easily see what other ingredients you need when grocery shopping.

That is smart convenience in the heart of every home – the kitchen.
