Ultra Fast Internet Is Coming To EDSA

You might be stuck in traffic but at least the internet is fast

During his first State Of The Nation Address last year, President Duterte promised that the government will be providing high speed internet to select public places nationwide. The Department of Information and Communications (DICT), in cooperation with local telcos have already rolled out free high-speed WiFi hotspots around the metro, specifically in airports and sea ports.

Come independence day on June 12, the DICT will be rolling out their most ambitious project yet – high speed Internet for the whole of EDSA.

The EDSA WiFi project will see free WiFi access even at street level for the entirety of the 24 kilometer stretch of EDSA. Both Globe and Smart will be providing the necessary bandwidth for the project, though as far as we know Smart is providing WiFi at the street level. The speeds in the photo taken above was provided by a Smart hotspot.
