Smart Rolls Out Free WiFi to COVID-19 Healthcare Facilities

It is part of Smart’s partnership with DPWH

Having reliable internet connectivity is crucial for frontliners dealing with COVID-19. With DPWH opening new COVID-19 healthcare facilities, the government agency tapped Smart to provide carrier-grade, fiber-powered WiFi to five key venues: Philippine International Convention Center, Ninoy Aquino Stadium, World Trade Center, New Clark City in Tarlac, and Philippine Army Gymnasium in Taguig. In addition, Smart also installed its WiFi infrastructure at La Salle Greenhills.

Smart WiFi has a capacity of 1 Gigabyte per second, which should help in communication as medical workers and various government agencies work hand-in-hand in combatting COVID-19. “This rollout is part of PLDT-Smart’s commitment to equip our frontliners with reliable connectivity and relevant digital tools to help them during this nationwide COVID-19 response,” Smart President and CEO Alfredo Panlilio said.

“A major focus of our activities at PLDT and Smart this time is to arm frontliners in the fight against COVID with strong connectivity and innovative digital tools.  We look forward to more of this type of collaboration with government and non-governmental organizations,” PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan said.

Currently, Smart WiFi is available at select hospitals and transport hubs nationwide.
