If you’ve been on Facebook for the last two days you probably saw several blogs and pages sharing photos of various stuff sawed in half. This is supposed to be the work of a divorced man who was a little too literal on the half-half divorce settlement. Unfortunately this was just a marketing and PR stunt. According to a German news site, this was the work of a German’s Lawyer portal that wanted to leverage on the power of the Internet to promote themselves as divorce lawyers.
Two days later is now clear: None of this was real. There is no Martin G., no Laura and no work colleagues. In truth, it is a guerrilla marketing campaign of the German Lawyers’ information, a consumer-law portal of the German Bar Association. On Saturday, the organization expressed its commitment.
The aim was to attract more people into German law firms, so that they themselves – be advised of a possible divorce and protect legally – of course for a fee.
Gotta hand it to them for being creative. Kinda annoying though… that feeling of being duped. Hehe. 😛
