Said to be part of a bigger database

Data breaches has affected several companies already, compromising valuable personal data. The latest indicent is the biggest to date, as a total of 772,904,991 unique email addresses and 21,222,975 unique passwords, have been discovered in a database file called “Collection #1”

The said database weighs in at around 87GB, consisting of over 12,000 separate files, and has been around the dark web–specifically hacking forums–for quite some time.

HaveIBeenPwned security researcher Troy Hunt reported the said database first and added that all of these data have been “dehashed”, which means they are decrypted and exposed to hackers.

An overview of Collection #1.

What’s even bothersome is that Collection #1 is just part of a bigger collection, as pointed out by KrebsOnSecurity. Not sure if your email has been compromised?
