TWG Wants Angkas Blacklisted

TWG Wants Angkas Blacklisted

More problems for Angkas moving forward

The app-based, motorcycle taxi company Angkas has been hit with several setbacks today. Aside from the cancellation of the pilot run studying the feasibility of motorcycle taxis in the Philippines which will compel Angkas to stop operations by next week, the technical working group (TWG) of the government has recommended the blacklisting of the company.

This was disclosed by Senator Imee Marcos during a Senate hearing today.

“Yung recommendation, Number 19, blacklisting of Angkas and its incorporators. Ibig sabihin, hindi individual riders yan kundi buong-buo, yung kompanya. Tama po ba?” Marcos asked.

“Tama po,” said Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) board member Antonio Gardiola Jr.

Gardiola is the head of the TWG that is conducting the study.

Aside from Angkas, Gardiola is also recommending the blacklisting of motorcycle taxis that were not included but participated in the TWG’s pilot run.
