You Can Help Kick COVID-19’s Butt With Your Gaming PC

Here’s how you can contribute to the fight

Feeling helpless against the pandemic caused by COVID-19? Well, there’s actually a way you can help – NVIDIA is appealing to people with gaming-capable PCs to download the folding@home application to donate their PCs spare clock cycles to advancing our knowledge of the coronavirus.

The program essentially links PCs that are connected to it into a vast, international network of distributed processing power to work out complex calculations that can be used for combating the virus.

The program has been in existence for a long time, and today it’s being utilized to simulate “potentially druggable protein targets from SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and the related SARS-CoV virus (for which more structural data is available)”.

So, if your gaming rig is at home not doing anything, you can go ahead and download the application here, follow the instructions and help with the fight with COVID-19 at the comfort of your home.
