Internals: OPPO leads the way

While both have the same amount of RAM on board, the A83 uses a newer and faster Helio P23 processor that is manufactured using the 16nm process (compared to the Snapdragon 430’s 28nm process). With that, the A83 should be more power efficient at least on paper.

Display: Full HD or 18:9?

While the A83 offers a bigger and trendier 5.7-inch 18:9 display, the Moto G5s has a 5.2-inch Full HD display that has more Pixels Per Inch (PPI). In addition, the G5s has an upper hand with its Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Camera: Depends on your needs

Basing it on paper, the Moto G5s has a better rear camera with more megapixels, while the A83 has a better front camera with more megapixels. When it comes to image quality, it all boils down to how they process images, and we will be testing both phones in the coming days to see which one snaps better photos.

Battery: OPPO is more power-efficient on paper

Aside from having a slightly bigger battery, the A83’s newer processor should make it last longer than the Moto G5s, at least on paper. While we are still running battery benchmarks on the Moto G5s, the A83 got a score of nine and a half hours with PCMark’s battery benchmark test. However, the Moto G5s has a slight advantage over the A83 as it has support for quick charging.

Verdict: Almost even

Priced at Php 1000 cheaper, the A83 is a better deal compared to the Motorola G5s ideally. However, the Php 1000 difference on the G5s will give you fast charging, a smaller Full HD display, an aluminum rear shell, and a near-stock Android experience. Nonetheless, both are good offerings if you ask us.
