I’m a self-confessed MacBook and Mac OS X fanboy. Ever since I jumped with sinking Windows ship a few years ago I’ve never looked back. However one particular Ultrabook caught my attention the other day! My co-host in the Unbox Video Podcast, Alora Guerrero of TechLokal, was using a ridiculously thin machine which I initially thought was the new MacBook Air. I got it wrong though! She was using the new Windows 8 powered Acer Aspire S7. Man, it was insanely gorgeous. If there was such a thing as gadget lust then the Aspire S7 would be one of those hot Victoria Secret models that men drool after (lol).
Check out the specifications below:

Not bad right? There’s also a 11.6-inch model if you want something smaller and more portable.
Hands-on with the Acer Aspire S7
There are two awesome things about the Aspire 7. The first is the form factor. It truly is sinfully sexy for a gadget! Acer definitely went all out and invest heavily in industrial design for this machine. It’s made primarily of anodized aluminum which gives it a very refined and sleek look. The ports are neatly and cleanly positioned at the sides.
When you open it you’ll notice that it’s kinda stiff. That’s actually intentional because Acer wanted the monitor to be firmly positioned to support 10 finger multitouch of Windows 8 (which is the second biggest feature about the device). Yes, you can touch the screen and it will actually do something other than leave fingerprints, hehe. Windows 8 is touted to be a massive overhaul and upgrade of Windows. Unfortunately I haven’t had too much experience with Windows 8 yet so I can’t really write about it yet.
For a few minutes the Aspire S7 actually had me contemplating getting it over the MacBook Air that I’ve been planning on getting for Christmas, lol. Sezzy Windows 8 Laptops FTW.
The Acer Aspire S7 13.3-inch model sells for Php75,000. The 11.6-inch model goes for Php59,990. Definitely pricey but if you’re after maximum portability, ultra levels of tech sezziness, and still have power under the hood, you might want to check out the Aspire S7.
