Acer Liquid Z220 Hands-on: Budget Smartphone for Php2,990

Acer-Liquid-Z220 philippines

If you’re in the market for a cheap smartphone that offers all the core day-to-day functionalities, you might want to check out the Acer Liquid Z220. With an SRP of just Php2,990, this is one of the most affordable decent entry-level devices you can get your hands on today.

While the specs aren’t mind-blowing, we can say that the device was able to deliver a fairly smooth user experience when we initially got our hands on it at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this year. The design was also pretty good compared to a lot of devices that are selling at this price point.

Acer Liquid Z220 Partial Spec Sheet

  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 Dual-core CPU
  • 1GB RAM, 8GB Internal Storage (Expandable)
  • 4.0-inch WVGA Display
  • 5.0-megapixel Primary Wide Angle Camera
  • 2.0-megapixel secondary camera
  • Dual SIM
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • 1,300mAh Battery

Initially the Acer Liquid Z220 was priced at over Php4,000. However the final release saw it’s price drop to just under Php3,000 making it a great secondary or back-up phone for more advanced users and a good first phone for those who are smartphone virgins.

Watch our initial hands-on video below. Kindly note that when we shot this it was still priced at Php4,000+ so we ended up comparing it to the Android One devices that were about to debut in the Philippines.
