Apple’s ambitious wireless charger is no longer a reality
After 18 months worth of delays, Apple placed the final nail in the coffin for its ambitious AirPower wireless charger. In a statement made by Apple senior vice president of Hardware Engineering Dan Riccio, they said that they have decided to cancel the product altogether because “AirPower will not achieve our high standards.”
The decision was not surprising, considering how complex the AirPower’s concept is. Introduced last September 17, AirPower aims to charge all of your Apple devices (iPhone, Watch, and AirPods) all in one go. Issues like bad heat management and interference are among the many factors that led to the AirPower’s death.
The cancellation of the AirPower is ironic, as Apple recently unveiled an optional wireless charging case for its AirPods.
