A long-awaited response to the batterygate scandal
After all the backlash Apple has received after admitting to intentionally slowing down old iPhones, Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that aside from cutting the prices for battery replacements, they will be issuing an iOS 11 update that will give users the option to disable CPU slowdown.
“We’re going to give people the visibility of the health of their battery so it’s very, very transparent,” Cook said in an interview with ABC News while being asked about the company’s efforts in supporting the US economy.
The said update, which will arrive in March, will inform users when the iPhone is reducing performance, on top of letting them disable the said option.
