ASUS CEO: Zenfone 4 Series to be Launched in Q3 2017, ZenFone 5 at MWC 2018

The next generation Zenfone 4 series was supposed to be out this May

Jerry Shen, ASUS’s CEO, recently commented on the company’s upcoming Zenfone 4 series, noting that the lineup will be unveiled at the end of July 2017. According to the CEO, the launch delay can be attributed to design overhauls and efficiency upgrades.

“The Zenfone 4 family will come with competitive prices, and is hoped to turn around Asustek’s money-losing smartphone business starting the third quarter,” Shen remarked. “Asustek’s smartphone operations will still suffer net operating losses in the first half of 2017 but are likely to swing back to profitability for the whole year,” he added.

For the Zenfone 4, ASUS is expected to unveil a 5.5-inch phablet-sized model first, then proceed to add variants of different sizes and feature sets.

ASUS’s CEO also revealed that the future-gen Zenfone 5 series will be unveiled at next year’s MWC 2018. No details yet from the company on what we can expect out of the ZF5 family.
