ASUS’ ROG Mothership (GZ700) Is The Wildest Notebook Design We’ve Seen Yet

You haven’t seen anything like this

ASUS regularly outs insane gaming products during big events like the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that’s happening now, but their latest device, the ROG Mothership, shows next level, 4D chess out of the box thinking that we haven’t seen before.

Basically, the ROG Mothership GZ700 is a 17-inch gaming 2-in-1 that’s unlike anything existing today. It’s a Surface Pro for gamers, essentially.

It looks like a regular gaming notebook when it’s closed and sitting on your desk, but when you open it up and deploy the kickstand, it instantly transforms into a desktop of sorts.

That keyboard can be pulled away from the body, instantly turning on wireless mode, and just like any good gaming keyboard nowadays it’s backlit and uses ASUS’ Aura lighting system. You can even fold the keyboard in half for good measure.

A gaming device is only as good as its internals and judging from the hardware inside of it, the ROG Mothership is a fantastic gaming machine. Beating inside of it is an Intel Core i9-8950HK processor, along with NVIDIA’s RTX 2080. There are four SODIMM slots inside capable of running up to 32GB of DDR4 memory. You can also use three 512GB NVMe SSDs in a Raid 0 array if you’re proficient enough.

The 17.3-inch display is a 144Hz G-sync panel running at 1920 x 1080, which is typical of what you’d expect from a device like this.

There’s no price or availability for this insane beast as of yet, but like most of ASUS’ high-end, high-concept machines, expect major damage to your bank account.
