ASUS Unveils 2018 Gaming Laptops With 8th-Generation Intel Processors

Featuring the first i9-powered laptop

ASUS has officially launched its new portfolio of gaming laptops for 2018. Major upgrades for its 2018 gaming laptop portfolio include 8th-generation Intel processors paired with 120hz and 144hz displays.

 

Headlining ASUS’ 2018 gaming laptop portfolio is the ROG G703 Chimera, which can be configured with an Intel i9 processor—the first laptop to use Intel’s most powerful 8th-generation processor. To give you an idea, the Intel i9 8950HK is a hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.9Ghz and can be boosted up to 4.8 GHz in single core mode.

Configuration options include a 17-inch Full HD 144hz IPS display up to 2TB HDD and 512GB SSD storage, up to 64GB RAM, and GTX1080 or GTX1070 GPUs.

 

The 2018 ROG Zephyrus GL501 gets a few upgrades like a 15-inch Full HD 144hz IPS display with G-Sync, an Intel Hexa-Core Core i7-8850H, Aura Sync support, and a 1TB PCIEx4 NVME SSD option—all while retaining its ultra-slim chassis and GTX1080 GPU.

 

A new addition to the Zephyrus line is the ROG Zephyrus M GM501, which introduces upgrades such as a centrally placed RGB Keyboard with Aura Sync, a 15-inch Full HD 144hz IPS display, a full-size GTX1070 GPU, and up to 3X better battery life with the Optimus GPU switching feature.

Configuration options for both Zephyrus models include an Intel i7-8850 Hexa-Core Processor, up to 32GB RAM, and up to 2TB HDD and 512gb PCIEx4 NVME SSD storage configuration.

 

The ROG Strix GL503 and GL703 sports the latest Intel i7-8850H Hexa-Core Processors, along with options for a 144hz and 120hz IPS displays. The Scar edition will come with a 100% sRGB screen with a 5ms response time, while the Hero edition gets a 130% sRGB IPS display.

Configuration options for the GL503 and GL703 include up to 16GB RAM, up to 1TB HDD and 512GB SSD storage, and GTX1070, GTX1060, and GTX1050Ti GPUs.

 

New for this year is ASUS’ Tuf Gaming FX504 laptops. This new line features an all-metal body with red accents adoring the laptop for its gaming look. It also comes with a 15-inch Full HD 120hz IPS display, while maintaining a competitive price.

Configuration options for the FX504 include an i5-8300 or i7-8750 processor, up to 8GB RAM, up to 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD storage, and GTX1050, GTX1050Ti, and GTX1060 GPUs.

Pricing for the Tuf Gaming series starts Php 56,995 while pricing for the ROG Strix starts at Php 81,995. The ROG Zephyrus starts at Php 119,995, and the ROG Chimera starts at Php 169,995. All models will be available starting April 17 through ASUS and ROG Concept stores nationwide, Partner ROG reseller Strongholds or ASUS’ and ROG’s newly announced Online Concept Stores via Lazada.com.
