Bandai Namco, IBM and VAIO Team Up To Make Haro Robot From Gundam A Reality

It doesn’t hover….yet

What happens when Bandai Namco, IBM and VAIO team up to make a robot? Well, you get Haro, the cute little robot that everyone knows from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Unveiled during the CEATEC Show in Tokyo, Japan, “Gundam Concierge Haro” aka “Gansheruju Haro” is capable of speech, gentle movements and flapping ears.

This one’s for my Gundam fanbois and girls. #ceatec2017 #gundam

If you know Japanese, you can even speak with Haro since he’s capable of answering any Gundam-related question you have, thanks to IBM’s AI software. If that wasn’t enough, the voice used in the real-life robot Haro is from voice actress Satomi Arai, who played the same character in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation trilogy. Right now Haro doesn’t hover around, following you wherever you go and offering to upgrade your Mobile Suit for you yet, but we’re sure that’s going to be coming in the next few years as Japan develops their own real-life Mobile Suits. No price has been attached to the robot just yet – it’s set to retail sometime next year.
