The best phones in the mid-range segment would not be complete without including the Redmi Note 5. A successor of the Redmi Note 4X (not the Redmi 5 Plus as we initially thought), the Redmi Note 5 offers things people look for while keeping a sub-Php 12k price: A performance-oriented Snapdragon 636 processor, stellar battery life, and a notch-less 18:9 display.

ASUS ZenFone 5
There’s more to the ZenFone 5 than being ASUS’ return to its “empowering luxury” roots: The Snapdragon 636-sporting phone scored 90 on DxOMark—an impressive score for a mid-range phone. You read that right: This mid-range offering can match the image quality of photos taken using more expensive flagship phones thanks to AI tricks and the 12-megapixel Sony IMX 363 primary rear camera.

OPPO F7
Despite being marketed as a selfie-focused phone, the OPPO F7 surprised many a reviewer with its powerful Helio P60 processor, giving it performance that’s on par with phones equipped with more expensive Qualcomm chips. The premium mid-range processor is a statement from MediaTek that proves they can go head-to-head with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series.

Huawei P20 Lite
More than being a logical successor to the Nova 2i, the non-Leica sporting P20 Lite is just as gorgeous and capable as its more expensive siblings. It has a pretty aluminum and glass build and a set of highly capable cameras. With a sub-16k price, it is an affordable alternative to the flagship P20.

While the more powerful Mi MIX 2S is in the market, it’s hard to ignore the Mi MIX 2, especially with its price cut.
